Special Focus on Community Engagement Through Quality Initiatives

 

In support of its Guiding Values that states, “if you are inspired, you have already met your
goal.” IES will engage in future Quality Initiatives that encourage community learning in
specified environments. These Initiatives might take the form of reporting on successful life-
changing action projects, sharing new community engagement efforts and methods, or
describing new partnerships designed to promote civic awareness, community change or
service learning.
Such initiatives are, but not limited to:

Parent Training Workshops

Working with young single mothers in under-served communities from pregnancy until the child enters kindergarten

Promoting Literacy

Organizing reading programs to encourage reading at an early age

Social Skills

Teaching social skills to assist students in developing healthy positive relations

Behavior Management

Empowering students with behavior challenges to self-manage
